Beatrice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to increase working capital for her guest house.

Beatrice's story

In 2017, Beatrice and her husband founded a guest house located at Lake Muhazi in the eastern province of Rwanda. It started as a private vacation area for her family and friends; however, Beatrice decided to make it a guest house. She added more rooms and decorations.

The guest house was fully operational in 2019 and has become one of the best getaway places in Rwanda for family vacations and retreats. It has six self-contained rooms with different categories for accommodation. Their service style for accommodation is bed and breakfast. Their facilities have the capacity to accommodate 80 people at the same time, including the bar and restaurant. Customers can have access to great scenery and can swim in Lake Muhazi. The guest house has 15 full-time employees, three casual employees, and one consultant.

In 2019, the guest house had at least one group they host every weekend. However, like many other businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector, the guest house was hit by COVID-19 effects. They did not host many groups, which made them run out of working capital and had laid off three permanent staff, but the business is still operational. Beatrice believes that the business will go back on track soon.

She is using this less busy time to make renovations to the guest house to make it more attractive. Beatrice is requesting a loan as working capital to take care of the expenses like salaries, electricity, water bills, and buying different renovation materials.
