01_Cite Malick Group's story

This group of 6 women belongs to a banc villageois that was founded in August 2012. They are neighbors and friends and share strong values of understanding and mutual support. Their main activity is trade, and they have successfully repaid more than 10 loans. Madame Astou, the group's representative, is on the right in the photo with her hand raised. She is 45 years old, married, and has 2 children. Her only daughter is still in school.

Astou has been raising poultry for more than 23 years. She gets her supplies at the main market and runs her business from her home, where she has a chicken coop. With this loan, she will buy cases of chicks and bags of poultry feed and pay for vaccinations. She will sell the chickens after 2 or 3 months for affordable prices. She does well because she offers her customers high quality chickens.

Astou uses her earnings to increase her savings at the banc villageois and to pay for her daughter's tuition.
