A loan helped to buy dairy cows to expand her herd and increase organic milk sales.
Anarkan's story
Anarkan is 51 years old and married with 4 children. She has a high school education. As the primary source of income for her family, she has been breeding livestock and cultivating fields since 1993. Thanks to her hard work, today her farm has 13 cows, 20 sheep, a horse, and a 1.8-hectare plot of land where she grows beans. She has a contract to provide organic milk to a local factory for processing into dairy products. This allows her to continue to invest in her farming business. She found out that she could apply for a loan from Bai Tushum Bank using her contract for future delivery as collateral as a "value chain" product, and applied for a loan of 250,000 soms ($3,125) to purchase dairy cows in order to increase her milk sales. Payment from the factory for milk is transferred directly to her back account, and loan payments are automatically deducted. She plans to use the loan to continue to grow her farm.
