Nuon's story

Nuon is 34 years old and is a married mother of one child, residing in the Kralanh district of Siem Reap province. She devotes herself to farming with her husband for household income. Together, they can make around USD 6 per day to support themselves. She wants to be more successful in her family-owned agribusinesses and earn a good income to meet her daily living needs. However, the way she does farming is still based on the traditional method, and with the considerable impact of the Covid-19 phenomenon, she is faced with quite reduced transportation of her crops for sale to the local market. Economic access has been reduced, which could result in risks to food security and nutrition with restricted movement.

Due to the shortage of her finances, she has applied for a loan in the amount of KHR 10,000,000 to build a store and to purchase merchandise to sell, such as grocery items, sweets, snack foods, spices, canned goods, noodles, and household products. She hopes that with this new selling business, she will earn more income to cover her family's expenses and especially her child's education fees. She hopes that her family's living conditions will be much better in the future.
