A loan helped to buy cereals which she plans to resell so that she can make more profit to be able to support her family.

Emmy's story

Emmy is a 50-year old mother of three children living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past twenty years, enabling her be able to support her family. Through farming, she has given her family a solid reputation.

Emmy is seeking this loan to buy cereals which she plans to resell so that she can make more profit to be able to support her family. Unlike banks and other local money lenders who operate mainly in urban centres, Juhudi Kilimo (a Kiva field partner) has extended its operations to the most remote areas of Kenya, creating opportunities to different people to access loans. Emmy is hopeful that Kiva lenders are going to respond positively to her loan request.
