Esperanza Del Triunfo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a stove, kitchen utensils, and spices for her regional recipes.

Esperanza Del Triunfo Group's story

Guatemalan cuisine is centered around corn and rice, as well as chilies, squash, tomatoes, and tropical fruits. These ingredients are in the delicious recipes of 42-year-old Esperanza, a married mother of six children who range in age from 4-21. Many of her children are married and now have their own families, but two of them still live at home and depend upon her support. Esperanza prepares her regional recipes daily, and it is important to her that her customers are pleased with them. She is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy an essential stove, kitchen utensils, and spices.

Esperanza, along with 13 other ladies, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Esperanzas del Triunfo” located in a rural area in the department/state of Suchitepequez. There are some large markets in the area where the women sell fruit, traditional dishes, and firewood. They meet monthly to make loan payments and participate in educational training sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education, and health care services. Topics are centered around women’s issues, family matters, health, and business. Every other month they have access to free health care services.

Esperanza and her friends are motivated to improve their own lives, and help their families and community progress. Thank you, Kiva investors, for the vital role that you play in their lives!
