Aminah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses.

Aminah's story

Amina is 24 years old and lives in the town of Gabba in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has two children, with one of them currently in school. For the past three years, Amina has been working hard to manage her tailoring business, in which she sews clothes for sale.

To help expand her business, Amina has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough patterns of clothes for making new dresses, and this will help Amina to generate greater profits and improve her family's standard of living by providing them enough food.

Amina hopes that, in the future, she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a house of her own.

Amina is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
