Hajaratu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 32-year-old Hajaratu from Waterloo. She is married with a 6-year-old child who is attending school.

Hajaratu runs a retail business selling provisions and other assorted items. She started this business to support her family, and has been doing this for the past 10 years. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales periods during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Hajaratu requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase provisions such as sweets, biscuits, mayonnaise, sardines, sugar, milk, cornflakes, and other assorted items to increase her business. Hajaratu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and her family's welfare. In the future, she would like to expand her business to a larger scale. She says thank you to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
