Hasiffah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more shoes, weaves and hair oils.

Hasiffah's story

Hasiffah is 22 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She has one child who is currently in school. For the past 4 years, Hasiffah has been working hard to manage her retail business, which sells ladies shoes, weaves and hair oils.

To help expand her business, Hasiffah has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shoes, weaves and hair oils, and will help Hasiffah to generate greater profits. Her business therefore will expand, she will be able to support her family, thereby improving on their standards of living. Hasiffah hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a boutique.

Hasiffah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
