Carmen Marina's story
Carmen Marina is 45 years old. She is single and lives with her five children; Lourdes (26), Verónica (24), Edith (19), Mauricio (17), and Jessica (16). They live in the hamlet of San Miguel in the Bolívar province. Carmen belongs to the “Lotan Bajo Rural Window,” located 30 minutes from the town of San Miguel. There are a total of 13 members, most of who are dedicated to agriculture. Carmen raises corn, beans, peas, and wheat. She buys and sells in the San Miguel marketplace every two weeks. She is asking for this loan in order to buy fertilizer. She believes that she will have more money if she invests it well and dreams of growing her business and buying a house. She has some problems with her health, but likes to take strolls, cook, dance, and sing old songs. Carmen works seven days a week.
