Porfirio Alejandrino's story

Porfirio Alejandrino G. P. is 57 years old and lives in the canton of San Miguel in Bolivar Province with his wife and three children: Freddy (age 16), Mario (age 14) and Danny (age 11). He is a member of the Communal Bank “Lotan Bajo”, which is 30 minutes away from the town of San Miguel. The group has a total of 13 members, most of whom engage in agriculture.

Porfirio is a farmer who grows corn, wheat, potatoes, and beans to generate income for his family. He buys and sells his products at the market in San Miguel. Porfirio is requesting a loan to buy farming supplies, compost, and urea. He believes the loan will help change his family’s financial situation. His goal is to buy land so that he can make improvements to his home. The challenges he faces are pests that impact his crops and the occurrence of inclement weather and other natural phenomena.

He enjoys the Carnival festivals, sports, and singing in his free time.
