Rina Asuncion's story

Rina Asuncion is 61 years old and a widow. She has three children who are grown and independent. They live in a home they own in Portoviejo, a city that was hit by an earthquake on April 16, 2016 and now by Covid-19. It is a city rich in the production of vegetables, legumes and tropical fruits for national consumption.

Rina has some small apartments at her house that she rents. She collects rent weekly. She also sells sheets in various designs, fabrics, etc. from her home. She sells her merchandise on credit and collects payments weekly.

During the worldwide pandemic Rina has experienced financial difficulties. Her customers can't pay because they lost their jobs, while others have died. At the beginning this health crisis was very bad for Rina as she couldn't go out to sell, but little by little she is reactivating her business in order to continue generating income.

With this loan she will fill orders for sheets in different designs, colors, etc. Rina's dream is that her family not get sick, and that her business continue growing.
