Tierra De Los Duraznos Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a variety of threads, traditional fabrics, and new patterns for making belts to sell.

Tierra De Los Duraznos Group's story

Micaela, a 36-year-old divorced mother of a three-year-old son, has multiple businesses to earn income. For 10 years she has fabricated colorful traditional textiles like “fajas”/belts, “servilletas”/utility cloths, and “huipiles”/blouses. She lives in the state/department of Quiche where the bustling and large market of Chichicastenango is located. She is requesting her fifth Kiva loan to buy a variety of thread, traditional fabrics, and new patterns for belts.

Along with seven other Maya “Kiche” ladies, Micaela is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Tierra de los Duraznos” or “Land of the Peaches."

The ladies meet monthly to support each other, make loan payments, and participate in educational training. Topics covered include effective business management practices that help them with their traditional textile businesses. They also learn about hygiene, healthy practices, good nutrition, and how to care for themselves and their families best during COVID19. Every other month, they have access to health care. This combination of loans, education, and health care is called “Microcredit Plus."

Micaela and her friends send their gratitude to Kiva investors from all parts of the world. Thank you to each of you!
