Celestina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy vegetables from small farmers in her community to sell in the market to ensure family income.

Celestina's story

Celestina is a 42-year-old Mozambican woman from Barue, a district of Manica province in the centre of Mozambique. She's married and lives with her husband and their four lovely children.

Celestina is a very humble woman who loves to work in the field and take care of her family. She also likes to learn from others. Since she was young, she has been learning how to cultivate the land in order to harvest good quality crops. Celestina produces vegetables, such as lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes and green peppers.

Thanks to this activity as well as her willingness to learn, Celestina has been able to produce a huge amount of vegetables to sell in the market. Celestina and her husband select the best vegetables that go to the market. This simple practice has allowed her to increase their number of clients. Last year, she was able to access a Kiva loan for the very first time. She faced some challenges during her repayment plan, but she quickly overcame and finished her loan.

Now, Celestina wants to sell more veggies in the market, so she is requesting a second Kiva loan to buy vegetables from other small farmers in her community to sell in the market to ensure an income for her family.
