A loan helped to buy a baby buffalo.

Thanh An 35 Group's story

Mrs Bien, 48 years old, is a Thai ethnic woman who is married and has 2 children: a 23-year-old son and a 17-year-old girl. Her family lives in a small house on stilts in a poor village in Dien Bien province.

Her husband works as a mason and is the main income generator for the family. She grows rice, vegetables and raises buffalo, chickens and ducks to earn extra income.

She wanted to expand her animal husbandry so she decided to get a loan from the Anh Chi Em Program to invest in buying a baby buffalo. She hopes that her husbandry experience together with the technical support from Anh Chi Em programme staff, that she will raise the baby buffalo properly and healthily so that the big buffalo will sell at a high price.

With the proceeds of interest, she plans to use it to renovate her house.
