A loan helped to build a household latrine and buy its necessities.

Channy's story

Channy, age 38, is a rural person living in Takeo province with her spouse and one school-age child. Working as a garment worker has been the primary source of her income for a long time. With her income, she can pay for food and products for household use, allowances for her child and other costs. With her perseverance, she plans to educate her child up to college because she wants to see her child become a professional one day. Her husband is also working, as Channy does, to earn additional income and also works as a paid laborer.

Since Channy doesn't have a safe latrine for use at home, she is unable to help her family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. Therefore, she has requested a loan of 8,000,000 KHR to build a household latrine and buy its necessities. The water loan program offered by Hattha Bank with a special interest rate has helped to encourage Channy to focus on ensuring healthy living conditions to safeguard the health of her family and protect the environment.
