A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of alpaca yarn.

Wilmer's story

Wilmer is an artisan from Peru who specializes in alpaca apparel. He would like to invest in a bulk purchase of baby alpaca yarn.

Wilmer has been selling through NOVICA since 2011. This is his story:

"I entered the wonderful world of textiles just by watching my parents. I was fascinated!" exclaims Wilmer. "I learned from them gradually, and I set up my own workshop when I felt ready. I describe my art like I do my feelings, that is, I weave how I feel when I'm designing, and I use colors and different types of weaves to convey how I feel, the happiness in my heart. My motivation comes from my deep love towards this art, to what I do, and you can see it through the dedication and effort I put into every piece.

"Since a week ago I have finally been able to re-activate my workshop. Although I have been working these months, it has been on a small scale due to the pandemic. The town where I live has maintained strict quarantines, so I could not supply myself with enough material to work, since I buy it in Lima. Thank God, the shipments to my town have been enabled, so I can now ask for more yarn from my supplier. This is the reason why I request the loan, to be able to supply myself with all the colors of the yarn I use for my products."
