Lastenia Maria's story

Lastenia Maria and her family live in Portoviejo, a place of beautiful countryside landscapes and beaches. A place also largely affected by the pandemic, both economically and socially.

She is a hardworking woman, looking for a way to earn a living, so that she does not have to depend on her children. Although she is very concerned with the pandemic, she continues moving forward and makes a living selling Avon products (perfume, cosmetics, and costume jewelry).

On weekends, she prepares lunch and seafood ceviche. She now also makes chocolate-covered bananas, and an assortment of ice cream flavors. Through this, she hopes to earn more money to pay off her debts, which she hadn't been able to do, because of the pandemic.

This loan is designated to buy perfume, lotion and cosmetics. In the photo, Lastenia Maria is shown outside her house. Because she makes sales on an itinerant basis, she does not have a store or any stall to display her products.
