Jesus De Los Santos's story

Jesus De Los Santos is 49 years old. She is married and has one eighteen-year old daughter. Her husband sells hand-made, traditional sweets. They live in their own home in Picoazá. Picoazá is known for its shops and its religious festivals. The area produces vegetables, legumes and tropical fruits. It is a source of progress and is Manabí's main informal commercial center.

Jesus De Los Santos and her family earn their living making and selling hand-made, traditional sweets. They make a variety of local confections, caramelized peanuts, caramelized sesame seeds, various sweets, cookies etc. Jesus De Los Santos's husbands sells their products in various areas and to other shopkeepers who sell them on the beaches, in the town centers, at sports fields, in shops, on the streets etc.

The health crisis was very bad for them in the beginning as they couldn't make their sales. Everyone in Jesus De Los Santos's family got sick, but they are slowly getting better. And now, little, by little, their business is getting revived and they can continue earning an income.

With this loan, Jesus De Los Santos will purchase coconuts, extracts, sesame seeds, plastic containers, bags, kitchen utensils, etc. Her hopes are to have a large sweets factory and for her family to be very healthy.
