Juana Jessenia's story

Juana Jessenia, age 39, is in a common-law marriage. She has three children; ages 19, 15, and 7. They go to elementary school and high school. Her life partner sells homemade sweets in an itinerant manner. They live in Picoazá, which is known for its commerce, religious celebrations, and it production of greens, vegetables, and tropical fruits. It is a source of progress, and it is the main center of informal commerce in Manabí.

Juana Jessenia, like most of the people in the area, devotes herself to making and selling homemade sweets. She prepares the sweets, and her life partner sells them in various areas in various cities, at beaches, in plazas, and at roadways, etc. She also sells to private people who come to get things to handle social events.

At first the health crisis was very bad for her because she was not able to sell. Now, little by little, she is reactivating in order to be able to continue generating earnings in this way. She will use this new loan to buy coconuts, essences, sugar, plastic containers, bags, and kitchen utensils, etc. Her dream is to have a bigger business and for her family to be in good health.
