Vencedoras De Pajales Group's story

For a long time, women have been responsible for carrying out household chores and ensuring the well-being of the family. However, visionary women see an opportunity to carry out additional activities that allow them to generate income and promote better living conditions. So, it has been for Angelica, 37 years old. She studied six years and has several popular businesses selling sausages, spare parts, and vegetables. To increase income, she sells from home and makes home deliveries. She and her husband provide better living conditions and formal education for their two children, 7 and 11. To continue offering fresh products, Angelica requests her first Kiva loan. She will buy cold cuts and ingredients for her food recipes.

Angelica and six other women came together to form this group. They live in the Department (state) of Chimaltenango, a place known for its crops and colorful textiles. In addition to access to the loan, they benefit from receiving training on business, investment, and budgeting. These issues help women to better manage agricultural businesses, corn tortillas, and fruit.

In Angelica's words, “I learn to give good customer service. I have also carried out my exams with the health service.” This is part of the Puente de Amistad Plus (loans, training, health) program that provides empowerment tools for women. Thanks to Kiva lenders, women move into the future.
