Alejandro's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped upgrade our equipment and grow our small farm.
My name is Alejandro Garcia-Padilla and I am 49 years old. I grew up in Coamo, Puerto Rico. Since I can remember, I spent all my available time at my grandfather's small cattle farm. After high school, I went to a local university and then, to law school. I always maintained a special attachment to the farm. I'm married to Wilma Pastrana and we have three children: Ana (18), Juan (16), and Diego (13). We all work at the farm. After 12 years in public service and 22 years as a lawyer, we established El Atajo Inc., and with the assistance of a Fordson Super Major tractor, we are in the process to continue to expand our production. We want to farm pumpkins, plantains, and cattle sheep. We already buy plantains from local farmers to sell the product to local restaurants, helping local farmers allocate their products in the market and helping the much needed local food sustainability. Although I'm still working as a lawyer, we believe this is the right moment to pursue that childhood passion. The loan will help us achieve this goal.
