A loan helped to buy farming inputs that she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Jepkoech's story

Jepkoech is a mother of two children living in Eldama Ravine, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. At 36 years old, Jepkoech, a single mother, is one of the most experienced women in her village. Jepkoech has been a mixed farmer for the past five years.

Jepkoech is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs that she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, thereby guaranteeing their survival. Be inspired to support Jepkoech with a loan today to light up her flames of hope for a better future.
