A loan helped to buy farming inputs which a single mother will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Jackline's story

Jackline, a first time Kiva borrower, is a 34-year-old single mother of one child. She lives with her family in Chuka, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for the past eighteen years. She is a woman with a vision for a brighter future.

Jackline is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is at the forefront in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs during this difficult period. A loan to Jackline will be vital to achieving food security in her home during this period of global economic recession.
