Annet's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy food items such as green bananas, rice, meat, cooking oil, and cassava.

Annet's story

Annet is 23 years old and lives in the town of Matuga in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has three children, with two of them currently in school. For the past three years, Annet has been working hard to manage her restaurant, which sells cooked food such as green bananas, rice, cassava, meat, chicken, tea, soda, and water.

To help expand her business, Annet has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy food items such as green bananas, rice, meat, cooking oil, cassava, and will help Annet to generate greater profits. Then Annet will be in position to afford more basic needs and also meet her family's basic needs, hence improving on their standard of living. Annet hopes that in the future she will be able to open up a salon.

Annet is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
