Lina Gissella's story

Lina Gissella is a single mother with 2 adult children who live with her at home. They live in Portoviejo, a city affected by the earthquake on April 16, 2016 and now affected by the covid-19 pandemic. The city is rich in the production of tropical vegetables, legumes and fruits for domestic consumption.

Lina Gissella has a small Cyber (Internet Cafe) at the university where she rents and pays monthly to be able to work. She has a copier, sells stationery products such as pencils, sheets, notebooks, folders, tapes, markers etc. and performs banding, etc. Her working hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and she has an assistant.

The health crisis at first hit her hard since she could not sell, but now little by little she is reactivating her cafe with sales via internet and WhatsApp, in order to continue generating her income. With this new loan she will buy office supplies, pay for basic services, inks for the printers, etc. Her dream is to have a pharmacy later in her home.
