Las Flores De Chajul Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy various colors of yarn and chicks.

Las Flores De Chajul Group's story

Women from one of the rural areas of the Quiché State / Department proudly wear colorful traditional textiles. Margarita is one of these women who wears this clothing that is made on a backstrap loom and is made up of various designs that reflect nature. She is a 28-year-old single woman who grew up with limitations, and to get ahead she learned as a child to weave typical textiles and raise chickens. She is well known in her community so she has to fill many orders. To continue a have a prosperous business, Margarita applied for her first Kiva loan to buy various colors of yarn and chicks.

There are seven women who make up the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Las Flores de Chajul". They communicate in their mother tongue Ixil and are originally from the Department / State of Quiché. The "Microcredit Plus" program offers 3 great benefits to more than 30,000 women clients of Puente de Amistad (education, health, and small loans). This allows Margarita and the rest of the women to strengthen their knowledge and build better life opportunities for themselves and their families. They learn about effective business management, nutrition, health, and hygiene practices. The women assure that the topics learned will put it into practice in their textile businesses and animal husbandry.

Margarita and her colleagues are very appreciative of the Kiva lenders for their support. Thank you!
