but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy different styles of tableware that the clientele is looking for.

Estrellas Del Carmen Group's story

37-year-old Candida lives on the shores of Lake Atitlán and is a native of the Tzutuhil culture. She is a married woman and mother of 3 children (8 to 17). She helps keep her home running through a variety store business, where she offers clothing, kitchen supplies, hygiene and cleaning. She had the opportunity to receive a nursing assistant diploma and works at a health post in a rural area. To supply the business, she requests the 7th KIVA loan. With this capital, she would like to buy different styles of tableware that the clientele is looking for.
There are 7 Mayan women in the Puente de Amistad Community Bank “Estrellas del Carmen” who live in the department / state of Sololá. The women are managers of variety stores, they sew, they have corn tortilla shops, nurseries, chicken farm and traditional textile businesses. They understand the importance of acquiring knowledge about business, health, nutrition, hygiene and how to empower themselves. Women learn these topics and in monthly meetings. A facilitator, using games, pictures and diagrams, shares relevant information with them. Candida found the issue of good use of the loan helpful. Every 2 months, women access basic health services. Puente de Amistad calls the helpful combination of loans, education, and health care services "Microcredit Plus."

It would be impossible for these women to enter a bank to obtain a loan. Thanks to KIVA lenders for financing these loans!
