Teresa's story

Teresa is a resident of Hilongos, Leyte, in the Philippines. She is 59 years old, married and has one dependent child. To earn an income, she runs a sari-sari (variety) store, selling basic commodities. She has been in this business for many years. Meanwhile, her husband works as a farmer to provide for their family’s needs.

Now Teresa is asking for a loan of 20,000 Philippines pesos (PHP) through Kiva’s field partner CEV, a local microfinance NGO, which she will use to buy assorted grocery items and drinks for her store.

Teresa wants to improve her livelihood in the future and become successful.
