Esperanza Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cold meats to sell.

Esperanza Group's story

The "Esperanza" loan group was created when a group of friends and neighbours in the city of Villa Elisa came together, all looking to improve their and their loved ones' quality of life. The loan group is on its sixth cycle as part of the women's committee programme.

Idalia is one member of the group. She is a trader who sells cold meats such as chorizos, Catalan sausage, sausage and more. She says that the global COVID-19 pandemic has impeded her ability to work as normal to earn the means to help her family. The pandemic has had consequences for her business.

Idalia is applying for this loan in order to invest in her business and to buy cold meats to sell. She can then continue with her business.

Note: only one borrower appears in the photo even though this is a group loan; as groups cannot come together owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not possible to take a group photo.
