Marie's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 22-year-old Marie from Waterloo branch. She is a single parent with a 6-year-old child who attends school. She also has three other relatives who depends on her. She started this business to care for her family.

Marie runs a retail business and sells fruits and vegetables and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past eight years. Her other source of income comes from her mother. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during COVID-19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase fruits and vegetables and other assorted items to increase her business. Marie says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family welfare. In the future, she would like to establish it on a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
