Mary's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 24-year-old Mary from Waterloo branch. She is married with a 4-year-old child who goes to school. She started this business to support her family.

Mary runs a retail business and sells fast food and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 5 years. Her other source of income is her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales due to COVID-19.

Mary requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase rice, oil, palm oil, pepper, flour, fish, eggs, plantains, sausage, chicken, and other assorted items to increase her business. She says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family's welfare.

In the future, Mary would like to establish her business on a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
