Isata's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 30-year-old Isata from Waterloo branch. She is a single parent with two children between the ages of 7 and 15 years old and both of them are attending school. She is also a caretaker for one of her relatives. She started this business to provide a decent life for herself and her family.

Isata runs a retail business and sells foodstuffs such as cassava by the bag, fish, pepper, Maggi, onions, and other assorted items. She has been in this business for ten years. Her other source of income comes from family members. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during COVID-19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase foodstuffs like cassava, fish, pepper, Maggi, onions and other assorted item to increase her business. Isata says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family. In the future, she would like to establish it on a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
