Noong Het 21 Group's story

Ms. Phuong, 48, unmarried, is a Thai ethnic woman. She lives with her 22-year-old grandson in a small house in a poor village in Dien Bien province -- a province in the northwest mountains of Vietnam.

Like other villagers in the village, Ms. Phuong’s main income comes from growing rice; in addition she raises chickens and ducks. Her family's life is still poor, so she always tries to work hard to get rid of near-poor households. Wishing to expand the breeding model, Ms. Phuong decided to take out her ninth loan from the Anh Chi Em program after successfully repaying the previous eight loans. This time the loan will be used to buy a calf. She hopes the investment will be successful and profitable so she can continue to expand the breeding model and cover the family's expenses.
