Cruz is 42 years old. She is married and the mother of three children, only two of whom are under her care. She is known in her community for being an honorable, hardworking and honest person. She is eager to work to improve her and her family's living conditions. She is asking for a loan in Fundenuse with Kiva funds to buy raw materials for selling fried foods and juice. She does this work from her house. Her plans for the future are to diversify her business by selling grilled meat and other grilled items. To undertake this plan, she will manage her income well.

She belongs to the “Unidos Santa Cruz” support group with Doraldina who makes and sells nacatamales, ground coffee and firewood. Betty sells tortillas and ground coffee by the bag.
