Mujeres De Libertad Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy divider boards at the store, plus one refrigerator to keep produce cold.

Mujeres De Libertad Group's story

Most of the 30,000 women participating in Puente de Amistad's “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, training, and preventive health services are becoming informed, empowered, and successful.

Such is the case of Juana, 48, who shares: “I have only studied three grades in school. Thanks to my perseverance, I have been managing the business of raising and selling live pigs for two years. Part of the profits generated by my business are allocated to the education of my five children over 10 years old." The goal for Juana is to open a new business such as a daily consumer store. This will be possible with the first Kiva loan. Juana plans to buy divider boards at the store, plus one refrigerator to keep produce cold.

The 11 women of this Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Women of Freedom" identify with the Mayan K'iche culture and speak the same language. They live in the Department (state) of Suchitepéquez. The women are eager to invest in their businesses that include raising animals, grocery stores, and selling food. In addition to the microcredit, Juana and her companions receive training on a monthly basis through images and stories. They learn about finances (good use of the loan, budgeting, saving), women (self-esteem, leadership, entrepreneurship) and health.

Thank you to lenders around the world for financing these very important loans to the women entrepreneurs of this village bank.
