Aminah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase more t-shirts, dresses, trousers and skirts to sell.

Aminah's story

Aminah is 18 years old and lives in the town of Kireka in the Kireka region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, Aminah has been working hard to manage her boutique, which sells all kinds of children clothes and greens.

To help expand her business, Aminah has requested a loan of 500,000 Ugandan shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more t-shirts, dresses, trousers and skirts to sell, and will help Aminah to generate greater profits and improve on the standards of living by providing enough food for her family. Aminah hopes that in the future she will be able to own a big boutique in town and become a fashion designer.

Aminah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activitie, and a forum for life-skills training.
