Rahuma's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more piglets and pig feed to improve her business.

Rahuma's story

Rahuma is 26 years old and lives in the town of Kireka in the Kireka region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 4 years, Rahuma has been working hard to manage her pig-raising business.

To help expand her business, Rahuma has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more piglets and feed to improve her business. This will help Rahuma to generate greater profits, and her production will increase thus attracting more revenue. She will be able to buy food for her children. Rahuma hopes that, in the future, she will be able to expand her pig-raising business.

Rahuma is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
