Silivia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more vegetables, onions and tomatoes to sell.

Silivia's story

Silivia is 21 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Kabuusu region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children, with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 2 years, Silivia has been working hard to manage her fruits & vegetables business, which sells onions, vegetables, and tomatoes.

To help expand her business, Silivia has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more vegetables, onions and tomatoes, and will help Silivia to generate greater profits. This will help Silivia to cater for her home's needs, medical expenses, and improve their standard of living. Silivia hopes that in the future she will be able to build rentals.

Silivia is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life skills training.
