Los Angeles De Sumpango Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy American clothes for women and girls, as well as buy one sewing machine.

Los Angeles De Sumpango Group's story

Astrid, 50, has been going strong in her business as a seamstress for 25 years. She is proud to join financial efforts with her husband and provide a secondary education for their three children.

She rents a place where she makes clothes for women. Because of the coronavirus, she started making masks from home, which she sells with great success. In the sewing business, one of her daughters helps her with the clothing to deliver the orders on time.

To generate additional income she also offers American clothing brought from the United States. Astrid wants to invest in business and for this she is about to apply for the third Kiva loan. Astrid will buy American clothes for women and girls, as well as one sewing machine.

Astrid is one of the eight members of the Community Bank of Friendship Bridge "Los Angeles de Sumpango", which is located in the department/state of Sacatepéquez. They sew clothes and are also farmers of green beans, peppers, corn, and beans. Women look forward to their monthly meetings when they come together to support each other, make loan payments, and participate in relevant educational sessions (business, health, family, women).

Every two months, women have access to basic health services. The effective combination of credit support, training and health care services is called “Microcredit Plus.” (The girl in the photo is part of the group.) Thank you, Kiva lenders, for the vital role you play in the lives of these women!
