Marie's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Marie from Aberdeen branch. She is married with seven children between the ages of 6 and 25 years old, three of who are attending school.

Marie runs a retail shop selling fish and other assorted items. She started this business to be financially stable to empower herself. She has been in it for the past ten years. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business.

Marie requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase fish and other assorted items to increase her business. Marie says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family's welfare and her children’s education.

In the future, she would like to establish to a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
