A loan helped to buy farming inputs and improve her production, enabling her to support her family.

Jackline's story

Jackline (a repeat borrower) is a 30-year-old mother of three living in Matuu, an area with hilly scenery that is good for camping and hiking. She is a mixed farmer who has farmed for 10 years.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is a lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Jackline is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs and improve her production, enabling her to support her family. She is hopeful that all Kiva lenders are adhering to the safety measures in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
