A loan helped a women-owned business purchase new materials and build a small work shed to make her products in.
About 6 years ago I made the decision to make gifts for my coworkers to show my appreciation for all their hard work. I scrounged all over the internet to find what I could possibly make and then I came across exfoliators that were natural and good for the skin. I quickly whipped up a batch and brought them to my coworkers who received them with the highest of gratitude. I started thinking if I could make my own sugar scrub then what else was out there that I could possibly make. I took to the internet again to take a look at the possibilities that were available to me. I came across soap making, which absolutely blew my mind. "I can make my own soap?" I thought. "I have got to try this!" I compiled all the research I could on soap making and in just a few short weeks I curated my own recipe. While not perfect it was usable soap that moisturized my body making it feel silky smooth and softer than a baby’s bottom. Soon I started playing with fragrances and different formulations that could help with different ailments like psoriasis and others. I eventually made so much soap that I started giving it away! It wasn't until people started saying they would pay good money for my products that I even considered selling them. I have always wanted to own my own business and it truly is a blessing that I get to serve people in the best way possible.
