Edith's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Edith's story

Edith, a repeat Kiva borrower, is 66 years old and lives in Kerugoya, a town where the main economic activities include agricultural processing, particularly in horticulture and tea.

Edith is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the last ten years. The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, thereby guaranteeing their survival.

Edith is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income to support her family. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
