Gbassay's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 38 years old Gbassay from Wilberforce branch. She is married with four children between the ages of 3 months and 18 years old and two of these children are attending school. She started this business to care for her family.

Gbassay runs a retail business selling fanna market (food stuffs); palm oil, rice, oil, maggi, pepper, onions, ground nut, salt, oil, tomatoes and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 7 years. Her other source of income comes from her husband’s business. Her main challenge is slow sales during the COVID 19 epidemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase food stuffs: Maggi rice, palm oil, oil, pepper, onions, tomatoes and other assorted items to increase her business. Gbassay says that the extra income from this loan will not only help to improve her business but also help in taking care of her family welfare and her home. In the future, she would like to have a bigger business. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
