A loan helped to stock more maize flour and beans for resale.

Susan Stella's story

Suzan Stella is 41 years old and lives in the town of Kumi in the Soroti region of Uganda. She is married and has 6 children, 4 of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, Suzan Stella has been working hard to manage her produce store, which sells maize flour and beans.

To help expand her business, Suzan Stella has requested a loan of 4500000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock more maize flour and beans for resale, which will help Suzan Stella to generate greater profits. Her production will increase and attract more revenue. She will manage to provide other family necessities, like clothes for herself and her children. Suzan Stella hopes that in the future she will be able to own a cosmetic shop to add more to her earnings.

Suzan Stella is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Stella Suzan who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
