A loan helped to buy more pandanus for her weaving and also to plow their plantation for their next planting.

Lehua's story

Meet Lehua. She is a 64-year-old widow with only two adults. She lives with her daughter and her family at her daughter's house. Together they conduct weaving and they also operate their own plantation.

Every Saturday, she spends her day in town selling crops. From Monday to Friday, she spends time weaving with her daughter. Together they weave taovala, mats, and fihu with white pandanus only. When their weaving is ready, her daughter posts it on social media and more customers follow them.

For their crops, they grow and sell taro, cassava, and also sweet potatoes.

She applies for a loan to buy more pandanus for her weaving and also to plow their plantation for their next planting.
