A loan helped a woman-owned business weather the COVID crisis for her unique business.
I’m Sally Ghanim the founder and owner of Therapods Float Spa in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I was raised in Central Arkansas, moved and graduated from Eureka Springs High School, a wonderful Victorian-era tourism town 45 miles from Fayetteville. Before my senior year of high school, I endured a TBI (traumatic brain injury) from a car wreck, and I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease causing intermittent chronic pain for the rest of my life. I attended Cosmetology school in Fayetteville, and I have been working as a beauty operator in the area for over 20 years. Northwest Arkansas now has over 500,000 people living here and I have seen its many changes and welcomed seeing the new diverse populations of people we have now living here moving in due to the huge job opportunities offered due to our growth. I used to think that title “beauty operator” was old fashioned until I read a definition of beauty: “making others feel good in your presence”. Ever since hearing this, I have adored being called a beauty operator because I was always excited to share my skills and training with others because I truly love helping people be happy with themselves, it brings me joy. I was able to open my very own business in 2014 where I offer my traditional beautician services, massage therapy, and the only “floatation therapy” facility in all of Northwest Arkansas. My additional modalities actually make people physically feel better all over, serving their inside and outside wellness and beauty both!
