Sarah's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Sarah from Waterloo branch. She is married with five children between the ages of 3 and 22 years old, and four of them are attending school. She also has one other relative who depends on her. She started this business to support her family.

Sarah runs a retail shop and sells slippers, shoes, sandals and other assorted items. She has been in this business for the past 17 years. Her other source of income come from her husband’s salary. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID-19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase shoes, slippers, sandals and other assorted items to increase her business. Sarah says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and her family welfare. In the future, she would like to establish into a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
