Emily's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production, making more profit to support her family during this hard economic period.

Emily's story

Emily (a repeat Kiva borrower) is a woman who has sacrificed a lot of things in her life so that she can pursue her dreams of being successful. She is a mother of two children and lives in Chuka, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya.

The major impediment to the development of smallhold farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Emily is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs, which she will use to improve her production, making more profit to support her family during this hard economic period. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
